Parish council meeting - items of interest

Some notes from the St Mary Parish Council meeting on 9 March 2011, kindly provided by Peter Duffield:

1.    There has recently been a major increase in burglaries in the Donheads.   There have been break-ins to houses, garages and sheds, usually in the middle of the night.  As you probably know Police resources in the Tisbury area are very limited, one Constable and one Support Officer.   However, the response to a 999 call will be to send the nearest police car.   As a result of good liaison between Wiltshire and Dorset, the response may be from Dorset.   As an alternative, it could be an ‘armed response team’, as there are a number of these about protecting VIPs in the area.

2.      Wiltshire claims to have quick response to filling in potholes.   To get action, potholes should be reported to ‘Clarence’.

3.      There will be no rise in Council Tax this year or next and possibly for the next four years.   Wiltshire has taken money on the Central Government scheme to keep the tax down.

4.      WCC do not, at the moment, intend to close any libraries.   They are going to reduce the opening hours and used volunteers.   In Tisbury there are already 25 volunteers.
